How well do you know yourself?

Sometimes we are a mystery to ourselves; how we behave, respond, and change over time. And that we are capable of falling into the same behavioral patterns over and over again. Even though we were really determined to do it differently this time.



To get to know yourself can help to start accepting yourself, and by that, to grow your self-confidence and feeling of purpose in life. Who are you in different situations? What are your preferences, desires, character strengths? Who are you jealous of? What motivates you?


If you lead your life true to what motivates you, you can mean the most to yourself, others and the world.


To know ourselves, we can practice awareness of what we are thinking and feeling. Good conversations with friends, mindfulness exercises, and taking time for yourself can all help with that.


To look at all the thoughts and feelings that arise in your mind requires courage. There might be aspects of ourselves that we don’t like. Then the trick is to keep looking at ourselves and to say to yourself as if you were your own best friend: oh well, that's just part of who you are. And who you are is ok.
